CYBERSEC GLOBAL 2020

The NATO Counter Intelligence Centre of Excellence, in cooperation with the non-profit think tank Kosciuszko Institute, is the co-organizer of the CYBERSEC conference dedicated to examining strategic security aspects of the global technological revolution. The conference will be held on-line on September 28-29, 2020.

CYBERSEC is a well-established Polish brand, initiated in 2015 by the Kosciuszko Institute, a non-profit and non-governmental think-tank, focused on nonpartisan expert activity, laying down the paths for the advancement of key public policies by making strategic recommendations and supporting Transatlantic community.

The CYBERSEC editions have had a lasting impact, influencing decision-making processes and the development of norms and regulations within the cybersecurity realm. At CYBERSEC we are aware that geoeconomic and geopolitical affairs are increasingly influenced by emerging digital technologies which exacerbated the global struggle for power and domination.

We hope that in 2020 cybersecurity becomes a key priority on the political and strategical agendas of nations and organizations worldwide, and we believe that together we can effectively deal with threats and challenges derived from emerging and disruptive technologies. With this in mind, the next edition of the CYBERSEC Forum will embrace the leitmotif: Together Against Adversarial Internet.

Each year, the agenda of CYBERSEC conference is carefully designed with input from the CYBERSEC Programme Committee. The conference is divided into four streams: DEFENCE, STATE, FUTURE and BUSINESS.

The NATO Counter Intelligence Centre of Excellence organizes the DEFENCE STREAM that focuses on the implications of the military sector’s technological development and doctrines for international security.

During DEFENCE stream the focal point of the debates will be the technological development of the military sector and doctrine and its implications for international security, as well as maintaining peace and stable relations between countries in cyberspace. Cooperation between the EU and NATO is equally crucial, and the coordination of tools and initiatives is key to ensuring the effectiveness of this area. This year the list of the DEFENCE stream’s topics includes: Military use of 5G technology, Information warfare – exploitation of history, religion and economics in cyberspace, Forward defence postures in developing cybersecurity capabilities, Cybersecurity of outer space – exploring the unexplored and NATO’s approach towards Science & Technology.
