EXERCISE LOYAL LEDA 2020 WORKSHOPS

The designated staff of the NATO Counter Intelligence Centre of Excellence took part in the incident and scripting workshops for the Loyal Leda 2020 exercise, which took place at the JFTC in Bydgoszcz.

Each NATO exercise and training session is preceded by a series of planning conferences, meetings, and workshops. They are an integral part of a long process, necessary for proper planning, development, and ultimately for the event’s professional implementation. The September workshop was the last step before the Loyal Leda 2020 exercises planned for this autumn. NATO’s experts worked in Bydgoszcz and remotely to prepare realistic and ambitious stories that will be implemented in the exercises and enable effective training.

The workshops aimed to develop storylines, incidents, and events that will add realism to the training and adjust it better to the current and anticipated environment and NATO requirements. The primary role of injects developed during the workshops is to challenge the Loyal Leda 2020 training audience, the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps and Multinational Division South East, to execute a planning process and conduct an Article 5 major joint operation against a peer adversary.

This year’s meeting between MG Adam Joks and NATO CI COE director Martin Achimovič focused on the strengthening cooperation between the Joint Forces Training Centre and the NATO CI COE resulted in the participation of NATO CI COE personnel in the Scripting Workshop for one of the essential NATO Exercise this year Loyal Leda 2020.

The NATO CI COE personnel has been primarily focused on preparing the most realistic CI inputs and challenging CI storylines integrated into the Loyal Leda 20 scenario. It will challenge trainees and execute the proper planning process to conduct a successful joint operation under Article 5.
