The delegation of six representatives from the Slovak Military Intelligence Service, led by BG Jaroslav Polák, the Chief CI, visited the NATO Counter Intelligence Centre of Excellence.
After a warm welcome, the guests were briefed by the NATO CI COE Deputy Director, Colonel Martin Achimovič, on the Centre, current projects, and way ahead. They were also introduced to the Centre’s infrastructure and had an opportunity to talk to the personnel.
Participants have shown a great interest in the NATO CI COE mission and have appreciated its activities in the field of CI and Security. A broader and more detailed debate followed the Deputy Director’s speech. Both the Centre’s leadership and the Slovak guests have discussed the role of the Centre in shaping international cooperation in such a sensitive field as counter-intelligence. Slovak guests also presented ideas for the future development of the Center.
Slovakia, together with Poland, is the Framework Nations to the NATO CI COE. Both countries have the primary role and responsibility for supporting, coordinating, and implementing the Centre operations.
