POLISH AND SLOVAK MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENTS IN NATO CI COE

The NATO Counter Intelligence Centre of Excellence hosted parliamentarians from the Polish Committee for Special Services and the Slovak Military Intelligence Service Oversight Special Committee.

Representatives of both committees visited two facilities used by NATO CI COE – its headquarters in Kraków and the Training Center Lest in Slovakia used in educational activities. The Polish delegation was chaired by Marek Opioła and the Slovak by Eduard Heger. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Polish Military Counterintelligence Service headed by Maciej Materka and the Slovak Military Intelligence under the deputy director BG Juraj Stefanka.

The first part of the visit took place in the Training Center Lest located in central Slovakia. It was about educational and training opportunities offered by the CI COE. MPs were briefed on TC Lest capabilities, focusing on those that are the most useful for the Centre.

The next day, in Kraków, other CI COE projects were introduced to the parliamentarians. Participants had the opportunity to learn how the Centre is going to develop based on priorities approved by the NATO CI COE Steering Committee.

Slovak MPs visited NATO CI COE for the first time, the visit of Polish MPs was a continuation of last year’s meeting, which took place in January.
